The world’s best Badminton players will descend on the Gold Coast from 21-28 May for the Badminton World Federation’s prestigious 2017 Sudirman Cup.
Fifteen hundred competitors. 30 countries. One aim – gold.
The competition will take place at the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre which will host Badminton at GC2018 from 4-15 April 2018.
And the venue received the highest of praise from none other than World Badminton Federation Secretary-General Thomas Lund who recently toured the site with Badminton Australia representatives.
It’s a first class, state of the art facility. It obviously ticks a whole lot of boxes…in terms of infrastructure,
As the first major event at the venue, Sudirman Cup spectators will witness the world’s fastest racquet sport. With the shuttlecock moving at speeds as fast as 260 kilometres per hour it’s truly a case of ‘Seeing is Disbelieving’.
Held every two years, the team-based championship has been dominated by China which has won ten Sudirmans since the inaugural event in 1989.
